Tile Installation

Finding the right contractor is so important when you’re about to embark on a tile installation project.

It takes precision, incredible attention to detail and a commitment to quality to ensure your project turns out exactly how you want it to. Here’s how we approach tile installations at DM Knapp Construction Co.

Our Process:

  1. We start with quality tile, which our partners at ProSource St. Louis can help you select. It’s important that the tile size and thickness is consistent, which can be hard to find when sourcing lower grade tiles.
  2. Select and install the proper backing material, known as substrate, depending on if it needs to be waterproof or not.  Flatness requirements are addressed at this time.
  3. Then, we lay out the tile, which is a critical step often skipped by novices or DIYers. Proper tile layout ensures that tile patterns are centered when possible, patterns wrap inside corners and that there are no small slivers of tile at the end of a row.
  4. Installation begins—we install with consistent joint spacing and relative flatness.
  5. Finally, we grout with high-quality material that does not require sealing and caulk all corners with color-match silicone or acrylic caulk depending on the needs of the project.

We’d love to help you get the look you want with the ideal tile for your project. Here are some options to consider.

All tile assemblies and installations follow Tile Council of North America (TCNA) specifications.

Ceramic Tile

Ceramic backsplashes like subway tiles are popular right now, and there are multiple color options, patterns, and grout colors to consider to get the finished look you want.

Designer Pattern Tile

Designer pattern backsplashes can make a space really pop. More than adding a finishing touch, they can become a focal point in your space and really add style and warmth to your kitchen.

Natural Stone

Natural stone backsplashes can give your space and impressive look. There are special requirements we consider like the setting material and sealing that ensure it doesn’t discolor over time, guaranteeing you quality, durable backsplash for years to come.

Glass Tile

Glass tiles deliver a beautiful finish to any space, but professional installation is key. If the wrong setting material is used, or if it is applied in the wrong way you could easily be dissatisfied with your finished look. We can help ensure your glass tile backsplash looks perfect.
